The Kirschgelände [Kirsch site] in Munich was acquired in 2015 and covers an area of approx. 121,000 m² between the quarter centre on Oertelplatz in the north, the railway line (S2) in the east, and the housing development on Kirschstraße and Allacher Strasse adjacent to the west and south. It is conveniently located between the Allach and Untermenzing S-Bahn stops. From 1895 to 1954, the steam sawmill Theodor Kirsch & Söhne was located there - hence the name "Kirschgelände."
Currently, the industrial park is used for the most part as a warehouse and logistics location with associated office space, with the floor area of the stock at approximately 100,000 m². As part of a development plan procedure, a new living quarter with around 1,200 apartments and a social infrastructure is to be created on the approximately 121,000 m² area in order to close the gap to the housing development that has approached over the years. The new floor area will comprise approx. 120,000 m². The first construction phase is to be realised from the year 2022 onwards.
